Using Mobile Email Effectively
Mobile email has really changed the way we communicate with our friends, our relatives, our customers, and even our teammates. It has provided us a way to stay connected without being locked down to a computer or location. Today, you can take your email wherever you. Even though you have your email with you at all times, are you sure that you are effectively using it?
Many email hosting solutions these days offer a wide range of options for a customer to access email. Regular email is accessed through a browser or an application on a computer. Mobile email, however, is accessed through a handheld device. This does not imply that the user’s ability to interact with that email is more limited than the other methods. In fact, a user can easily read, delete, and respond to the messages as if it were on a regular computer, but now, with mobile email options, there are more ways for the user to stay connected at all times.
Some email hosting providers offer new solutions and benefits to mobile email users to make things even more convenient, but you must be aware of these options and have the phone properly set up to take advantage of them. For example, some providers offer a “new mail” alert that they will send to a user whenever a new message arrives. However, if your phone or other device is not set up to accept these alerts, you will not be able to take advantage of this particular convenience.
Mobile email can also allow you to do more than just send messages. You can easily sync your handheld device to your computer and take advantage of all the other options that the email solution provides. This includes shared messages, calendars, and contacts lists.
Mobile email can sometimes even be too effective. Having your emails, contacts, calendar and the like right at your finger tips all the time is great, but it doesn’t mean you always need to be working. Sometimes you need to get out of the office or away from the busy business world for a while. Just because you have all of this info doesn’t mean you need to always use it. It’s important to know when and where to draw the line. The idea is to have mobile email be a benefit, not a burden. Sometimes you may need to leave purchase orders or expense reports for another time and just have a weekend. But if you need something, you have it.
