Modern Times Kids Clothing Trends
In the past, kids clothing designs were nothing more than miniature versions of clothing for the adults, but this is not the case anymore. Did you think that fashion was just limited teenagers and the youth? In modern times, kids cannot be neglected at all. They are as fashion conscious as any other person when it comes to dressing and style.
Initially kids clothing was not given a lot of prominence and the dresses they wore were only smaller versions of what their parents wore. But now, things have changed dramatically. The kids demand their own identity. Also, designer clothing for men and women is targeted to bring out the manliness and sensuality respectively and hence are not appropriate for kids. Kids clothing has to be designed to bring out the innocence of their age and yet make a style statement.
The idea to have separate clothing line for the kids started in the early 1800s, but could not gain momentum because of certain limitations in the materials and products available. However, in the beginning of 1900s this idea gained widespread popularity because of a number of fabrics and materials available in addition to the number of designers who were willing to experiment to make the little ones feel special and stand out in a crowd. Their efforts were also successful because of innovations like the waistband which helped revolutionize kids clothing to a great extent.
There are certain points that kids clothing designers need to keep in mind while designing dresses for these tiny tots. The patterns and designs have to be created not only keeping style in mind, but also comfort and safety. It is definitely a bad idea to have long tailcoats for small boys and trailing dresses for small girls. This is definitely a breach of the safety point while creating the design since it increases the chances of the kids tripping and falling over.
Safety and comfort should be top priority while designing clothes for children. They move around, play a lot and also run and jump all around the place. Hence, clothes need to be designed in such a way that it does not curb the kid’s activities or obstruct it in any way.
The skin of the child is very soft, tender and sensitive and needs good protection. Using cotton clothing for winters is as bad as using woollen clothes for summers. Also using clothes made of tulle just because they look good can be bad for your child because this fabric can cause irritation at times when it rubs against the skin of the child especially if worn for a long period of time.
Another important aspect to be borne in mind while designing kids clothing is the fact that kids grow very fast in a short span of time. Hence, their clothes need to be designed such that it provides for this growth. Having features like long helms and cuffs will ensure that the child can use the dress multiple times. Such dresses are worth the money you spend on them.
Keeping these points in mind while designing and buying clothes for your child will go a long way in making them feel comfortable, loved and stylish.
